Harvest Bounty Starch Applique Technique - Friday 10:30 - 2:30

This class will use the center panel of my original quilt, Harvest Bounty, to focus on the technique of learning the starch applique method to turn raw edges over a cardstock weight freezer paper to complete the pictured pumpkin basket and flowers. You will turn both inward and outward curves and circles, fold under points and corners (no dog ears left to turn while stitching), and make stems. You will learn how to glue baste your design to your background after removing the freezer paper. Both hand and machine stitching of appliqued shapes will be discussed, while learning about needles and threads. Throughout the class I will share lots of tips for successfully completing applique projects.

Included in your class fee is a kit that will include your freezer paper templates, fray block, glue, and sample needles. The instructor will provide for the day other tools and supplies for the project, such as the starch, thread, and pressing boards. A supply list, including fabric requirements and other supplies for the day, will be sent to you prior to the event.

You will be required to purchase separately the pattern, Harvest Bounty. It may be purchased as a download from my Etsy shop, here. A hard copy of the pattern will be necessary for class. If you cannot download and print at home prior to class, the pattern will be available for purchase at class time for $15.00.
