Momma Bird Quilt

QUILT SIZE: 90” x 102” (Queen Size)

I call this quilt Momma Bird because I designed a line of fabric called “Jaye Bird” with Windham Fabric! Jaye Bird is my six-year-old daughter and my everyday inspiration. As Jaye's Momma Bird I wanted to wrap her up in encouraging words and all the prints from the fabric collection. This quilt has 30 hand embroidered words that are made into sweet little hand appliqued labels that are then attached all over this BIG BEAUTIFUL quilt. I am amazed by how a simple positive word can make us feel. Momma Bird is all my favorite combinations fun fabric, simple patchwork and hand embroidery and applique. This modern setting juxtapositions rather well with scrappy vintage fabric feel and bring such a uniqueness to this heirloom.The focus of the class will be working on our hand embroidered “encouraging" words with a demonstration on how to complete the labels and apply them to the patchwork. The patchwork will be yours to make on your own time.

During the class we will explore my favorite way to trace and how to lay out all the words on one piece of fabric. I will teach you my favorite hand embroidery stitches and some tips and tricks along the way to make hand embroidery fun! THE EXCITING PART: Bring a few of your favorite “encouraging words” and I will guide you on how to hand letter those words to make this quilt all your own and speak to you. This class is for a confident beginner and has some knowledge of hand embroidery and patchwork.

Kit Cost: $220.00 This kit is BIG and it includes the pattern and all fabric for quilt top including the binding. Also, included are 16 skeins of Lecien Cosmo solid floss for hand embroidering the applique word “labels”.

What you will need to finish quilt and NOT IN KIT:· 9 yards backing and batting.

Students DO NOT need a Kit they can bring their own materials.

Pattern Cost: $15.00 (Each student will need to have their own pattern). Pattern includes quilt top instructions and the tracing images of the words and hand embroidery directions.

Pattern and Kit to be purchased from Instructor. She will email students prior to August to determine number of kits required for class.

Class fee includes Vendor Mall entrance ticket.
